The entire concept of Personality is flawed because the world is entire primal, so there's no why or reason to personality works or be somewhat important even in small percentage (imagine thinking that woman will want a children with someone because of his personality, when personality makes nothing to chances of survival and evolution) also, personality is by genes too as you can see by everything writed here.

I'm only using the scientific/national survey sources, others are irrelevant.
Science Direct's Paper on Funniness:
- Humourcorrelated with attractiveness in SHORT-TERM relationships. Humour signals genetic quality and can enhance attractiveness. It isn't saying "people are funny because they are hot" it is saying "part of why people are hot are their humour".
- Attractive individuals rated as funnier, this shows a bias not that humour isn't relevant.
- Humour more attracted from males than females, showing the sexual dimorphism in humour preferences (e.g., males valuing humour appreciation in females, and females vice versa).
- Humour and flirtation are perceived similarly, as flirtation is linked to sexual interest and humour signals proceptivity (initiation of mating) or openness to romantic engagement.
- Humour, while rated as more attractive for short-term relationships, had a positive effect in long-term relationships, so its for genetic quality and social bonds.
Archive.is's Brock University Study:
- This is basically outlining achieving sex through manipulation and bullying, not social success or fulfilling long-term relationships.
- Comes at the cost of long-term emotional health, trust, and genuine intimacy, so these would all undermine contemporary (and, tbf, tribal-level) human society. A nice personality is crucial for relationship longevity, especially emotional intelligence, self-awareness, and maturity.
National Post's Canadian Study:
- Interesting source, basically outlining that bullies in high school had higher self esteem, social status, and reduced depression.
- Just because it is under evolutionary psychology doesn't mean we should encourage it if this undermines other values, this is basic secular moral frameworking in conjunction with ev psych.
- Study doesn't suggest bullying is inherently attractive or that aggression is the best way to build lasting relationships. If anything, trying to work to the top creates a very fragile foundation for power, and the constant need to perpetuate internal conflict means you're a target. Same reason the Roman Empire fell.
- Consider the issues with most interview and survey-based sociological studies, there is a lot of room for lying, which would match their personality, no?
Academia Study:
- Way too long, I have the PDF and its weirdly written and usually in relation to the workplace and overlaps, not any cohesive conclusion that supports your argument.
ScienceDirect Facial Attractiveness:
- Facial attractiveness moderates the relationship between aggression and popularity (adolescents that are 'ugly', aggression --> low popularity / adolescents that are 'pretty', aggression --> no effect on popularity). Thus, the more attractive, the fewer the social consequences. This doesn't say anything about personality, or that aggression is better, it is saying you can get away with aggression and manipulation if you are attractive.
THE REBUTTAL (adding onto the ones I've thrown amongst my comments on your sources):
1. Studies on romantic attraction find that individuals are drawn to others not only for their physical traits but for personality traits. For example, 'Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin' --> warmth, generosity, and humour have a positive influence on relationship satisfaction and attraction. More: Buss (1989), Buss * Barnes (1986), Bendixen (2020), Buss & Schmitt (1993).
- In terms of evolutionary psychology which seems a pretty big focus point here, while physical traits signal genetic health and reproductive fitness, personality traits signal long-term compatability, maturity, caregiving potential, cooperation, compassion, etc.
2. The idea that attractive people are inherently funnier or have better personalities is an interesting oversimplification. Being judged favourably (halo effect - Langlois 2000) does not have any causation in dictation of humour or personality. It is a cognitive bias effect you are clearly experiencing.
- Being unattractive is not a death sentence for relationships but, even if it is, the same applies long-term for personalities (Klohnen 2005)
- Dark Triad/Bullying having more sex appeal is somewhat substantiated, is not a universal truth, nor should we glamorise traits like this (I provided a rebuttal under the relevant paper) --> Jonason (2009)
- Short-term advantages =/= long-term success (Feingold 1992) , Modersitzki (2014)
- Humour is regarded as an independent personality trait, not dictated by appearance (Martin 2003)
3. You claim personality is irrelevant as humans are "primal" which is in complete contrast to evolutionary psychology. Personality traits evolved to help navigation of complex social environments, form alliances, and ensure the survival of offspring. Kindness, cooperation, and emotional intelligence are all fundamentals in the human moral framework. If we all went around killing one another, our communities would be UNSTABLE and would have died out very fast.
