I’m taking 5mg daily up from 2mg under my dermatologist.

I know oral minoxidil is not typically used for high blood pressure anymore due to concerns with fluid retention and heart function
I’ve seen this study at 5mg oral minoxidil

although they report a good safety profile it also states

Regarding cardiac monitoring, abnormal EKG findings were found in six patients (20%), two of whom had occasional premature ventricular contraction and four had with new T wave inversion in one lead (mostly V1) without any symptoms. This T-wave inversion in V1 was classified as a non-ischemic pattern. No serious cardiovascular adverse effects of minoxidil were found.”

Not a doctor or medical student but from my understanding EKG abnormalities even if asymptomatic can cause complications down the line. Since this was only a 24 week study are there any long term concerns for heart function on oral minoxidil

For reference my blood pressure monitor at home which slightly over estimates my blood pressure compared to the doctors shows reading around 120-127/65-70 and a heart rate around 60-63bpm.

Not sure if it mitigates my risk or not but for reference no symptoms as of yet on 2mg or 5 mg.

Chug the whole bottle like a real one.

What the fuck just how calm are you? I did that finger-in-machine thingy for this and I got like 90-110 bpm. :lul:
It should drop as long as you aren’t anxious or haven’t walked around before testing it. Also exercise helps keep it low

I was walking downtown with my brother and it took maybe 45 minutes to get there and then we walked around. Crazy thing is my friend got like 70 bpm. So I was surprised to see it like that. Felt a burning sensation in my face which probably means I am more anxious than I think I am.

Premature Ventricular contractions (PVCs) are benign most of the time and very common in normal people they are not even very noticeable to some (unless very very frequent)
Just a type of heart palpitations literally everyone gets them

The other T thing i dont know of but T wave abnormalities are dangerous most of the time

That’s what I heard too that some form of EKG abnormality is found in the population but is of no concern as it usually passes

I searched T-wave abnormality and it seems severe which is why I was wondering what the justification was for no serious cardiovascular adverse effects being noted

Oral minox cardiovascular effects are infamous
Did you not respond to topical bhai? With dermastamp? Oral would also make the body hair grow grizzlymaxing

Just checked T wave inversion is present in some normal healthy people too
Minox is basically a vasodilator and lowers blood pressure so all the sides are from the low blood pressure i think you'll be fine

Topical twice a day was too much of a hassle + scalp irritation. I’ve been on oral for a year and have had far better results than I did on topical, I still microneedle and use topical finasteride 2x per week

5mg is nothing, you need to take at least 10mg to get a noticeable effect
