I just showered and my hair looked amazing cause it was down instead of growing outwards like an afro, wondering when that will happen or do I need to get softer curls

It will naturally go downward the longer your hair grows. This takes years (min 2 years) I’m not sure what your hair texture is but try using a good curling cream.
