What are the negatives of palate expander

obviously the palate expander is used to widen the dental arch and expand the maxilla laterally, but I’ve heard there’s a lot of negatives to it. Such as wider nose and ur eyes looked closer set. I’m going to get one soon and I want to know what the negatives of palate expander are as I’ve already got a wide nose and I don’t want it more wide. Also does it forwardly from maxilla? Or have any illusion to make the midface look shorter?

I speak for myself who put it on, the only thing it does is widen the maxilla laterally and make the cheekbones stick out a little. As for the nose and eyes I don't notice any changes although you could be right and I don't know
