The reason you have a overjet to begin with is because your jaws are recessed and didn’t develop properly. Once you are 18 or older you have no more jaw development left.

The only thing to do is Orthogatic Sue where the cut your jaws ad move them forward. Then wire your mouth shut.

If you get braces they will do something called dental compensation. They will “hide” your overbite by moving the teeth. But your jaws will still be recessed.

And if you every decide you get jaw surgery in the future you will have to de-compensate the teeth which could take a year.

So if you plan on staying recessed your whole life then get braces. But if you ever pursue jaw surgery you will have to in-do your orthodontic treatment anyway.
