Fixed/Permanent retainers impending forward growth?

Hey guys,
Just wanted to know whether permanent retainers on the upper and lower jaw would impend forward growth or any sort of mewing gains?
If it did, to what extreme would it affect the gains?

My upper fixed retainer goes across of 5 teeth in total.
4 Incisors and the right canine for some reason.
Same for my lower jaw, 4 incisors and right canine.

So back to the questions, would this affect mewing gains?
