Yeah, make good short films, make connections at the good film schools, make a screenplay and show it to producers and actors at festivals, its how people like Damien Chazelle for Whiplash, Ryan Coogler for Fruitvale Station, and every new filmmaker makes it today.

Then if its even halfway decent as a movie, and if its a horror movie itll make money no matter what
