Yes very possible only thing that might make it unlikely is how they might have died before they reached their full height as they would have struggled to walk. However there is evidence from broken bones fully recovering that cavemen looked out for disabled cavemen so they might have protected him

And it could have happened during civilization like ancient Greeks or bible times but wasn’t recorded or became myths they had giant myths in every culture since begging of time
