Math

I've been bad at math my whole life, for as long as I can remember I never applied myself or tried either, the only reason I passed math class is that the teachers didn't wanna see me in their class again. I was very bad with numbers but now I find myself becoming better with numbers and equations, I've been getting better sleep and a better diet and I feel like that boosted my IQ by a couple of points (obv it didn't) also less family stress. I found this image on 4chan is it a good approach to get decent and get a good grasp of math in a couple of months? Without math skills, no good job opportunities will present themselves, and I don't even know the multiplication tables.

I've read the first 30 pages of the yellow book and its pretty good

So this is a complicated question for me to answer, as I have absolutely no idea on how you'd approach this, I can't give a simple one dimensional answer. I'm not sure what your goal is (specifically), but in a couple of months you won't be able (obviously) to cover all this material. I'd say , if your level is as bad as you say, you'll probably not manage to understand (like actually understand, put time into practice etc.) more than 1-2 books in there. You'd have to develop a really good concrete methodology on how you'd get to understand those, and be sure of it. Other than that, despite not knowing specifically each book, and therefore being unable to comment/argue about each's quality, I can say that the pathing looks good, depends again on what your goal is, you're not gonna be needing Abstract Algebra in many fields (correct me if I trolled this one, I just haven't noticed it in many engineering unis for example).

Tagging also @Harold O'brien high iq user (probably) , had to dig through 2mins to find the name change didnt know it was possible

If you're in highschool select advanced Maths and Physics classes and also make sure to have CS, Chemistry and biology

By contrast select as little social sciences, arts and languages as possible

you would be reading useless shit for no reason

just find what you need to study for your exams and perfect that

I'm considering studying tech in college, I start college this year but haven't signed up so I want time to study math so I wont look like a retard in the class

seems like a waste of time to me ngl (unless you want to learn it because it interests you and not for career)

make sure you know your times tables and basic algebra. then just study the material you are given in school/uni

Still much better use of time compared to other wastes like cooming to degenerate porn and analysing tiktok fags faces

i guarantee youre not going to complete any one of those books

youre going to do this shit for 2-3 days tops and then get bored and forget about it

just study the bare minimum

good thread, shit responses.
i tried the yellow book and its riddled with mistakes in the explanations and answers. the explanations are ok but no better than what youd find in community college algebra 1/2 text books + any youtube channel. what you need to muster is the self-motivation to actually study which most lack.
as always /sci/ memes retards to hate mathematics by starting with convoluted drivel even at a supposed 'rudimentary level'.
just like /lit/ who always insist that one 'starts with the greeks' which is 'so easy'.

When i tried university level math/physics books to complement my studies i found it a waste of time, you will spend countless hours going through it, which is much slower than just going to class and learning what the teacher wants you to learn. Technical books are for the high IQ only, or those who are really going to work by doing "math" and need a place to check certain things, which is a tiny fraction of people, even in technical fields.
Most people once they are done with their degree, never use their calculus, algebra and whanot.

Just get a tutor when you start college instead tbh, you'll get the same knowledge from the books in the OP + accountability + NTmaxxing gains

starting with the greeks can't be that hard if even pewdiepie read the entire plato's republic lol

I think this a bait/meme recommendation pic that gets posted on /sci/ regularly.

Look Up the courses of whatever U want to study at your University and Go trough their book recommendations that go with the course.
If you self study its nice to have a book with question + answers for each chapter to Test yourself

yeah legit, even in math heavy fields like engineering you will seldom find people who enjoy going through proof based math books over and over and for good reason. just learn the basics on an intuitive level and you're good, going through whole books is a waste of time unless you're one of those gifted or semi autistic ppl who actually love doing math at its core i.e enjoy doing "real" mathematics regardless of practical applications.

I never learned anything about proofs or set theory until after calculus tbh, go by whatever textbooks/courses your school has instead

Yeah I’ve also noticed how complicated some of this stuff is. I’ve been obsessing over trying to find a good book to study from so what do you suggest? I’m doing this out of actual personal interest in the subject and the hope of becoming an actual mathematician one day or a field that involves lots of mathematics like physics. I have a fairly good grasp of Algebra up to logs maybe and I took geometry in high school and it ended up being extremely easy. I have no experience in calculus or pre calculus. Just looking for a good set of books that aren’t overly complicated and manage to be in-depth and explain the why behind it not just the how.
