A realist's guide to mewing, how to do it, and what to expect

you probably didn't even read my post and you're talking shit for no reason
no I didnt, @NickGurr alt

If you are so versed in all this, tell me why mewing shouldnt cause vertical growth of the maxilla instead per Wolff's law ?
I dont want to argue mainly because this is not my native language nor am I even good at arguing in my mothertongue

Also, the Maxilla is floating and can easily be balanced ? Is there a hidden cartilage somewhere I never heard of or some liquid ?
If discrepancies would be that easy to change, you could cure asymmetries in Orbits, Nose and Squamous area "with ease" since they are joined bones by sutures (and ossified cartilage)

your posterior third can't push anywhere but UP. it's an UPWARDS force. how do you expect it to push the maxilla forward if the force applied doesn't match the direction in which you're claiming the maxilla will move?
if this would theoretically work, you would constrict airflow and diminish all positive effects by forcing you to breathe through mouth again

Otherwise I dont have any critique against "mewing", but sometimes I think that improper oral posture is caused by underdeveloped or misdeveloped cranium and constricted airways

And about boneremodelling: You already stated that the efficiency decreases by age
Mainly because of the decrease of active osteoblasts in a remodellling cycle
and even IF, there would be minimal changes in form but in deposition/location of the minerals

And still, remodelling is so minor

Homeobox, SHH, IHH > Suture > Cartilage > Servosystem/Pathways induced by teeth or other physical signalers > Bone Remodelling

I am fully for mewing for newborns and kids
Evenmore for breast feeding and good mastication in general

Anyways, we are arguing about trivial things and basically not anything to argue about
But would you like to include the studies since all this is scientific ?

no clue what this means lol, care to rephrase? also, define vertical growth.

what do you mean freefloating? there are so many circummaxillary bones that practically keep it in place all of which comprise the viscerocranium and are literally fused onto your neurocranium one way or another. regardless, this is completely irrelevant as it isn't even the scope of the argument/thread in the first place.

you're practically arguing strawmans at this point. this isn't the scope of the argument, nor do i disagree with you.

big buzzwords, care to explain what it is that you're talking about?

We are arguing over nothing basically, we both are at fault (I am more at fault maybe), we may have more in common than the other users here though

are you an alt ? Or where this sudden influx of new members come from (Can DM if you want)

growth of the cranium post-natal
The first few are Proteins/ genes and I listed descending on their actualy impact of cranial growth

excess vertical growth of the maxilla, longer face maybe gummy smile

Wolffs Law is bone growth as response to stress

You stated that the maxilla is basically floating and can be balanced with ease, idk where you got that from

i'm not an alt but i have been lurking this site and many others for a long period of time. i have a weird feeling that i know exactly who you are, what's your native language just to confirm?

i'll be honest with you i haven't studied genetics to a thorough degree. all of my knowledge is superficial, visceral nor do i know biochemistry to the degree you explain it. i'm actually just baiting threads and arguing devil's advocate in an attempt to learn by getting schooled by people smarter than me. where do you suggest i start learning viscerocranial morphology and everything about the body in its entirety? should i just pull out a biochem textbook and get to work, try to divert and narrow down more relevant paths once i've amassed enough basic knowledge? the most i know is basic mechanostat and enough biochem to tell you how very minimal and basic internal processes work, nothing to a genetic expressive level or that in depth.

You stated that the maxilla is basically floating and can be balanced with ease, idk where you got that from

misunderstanding, sorry. im being extremely retarded when i say that and what i really mean is that any and every movement ultimately mimics that of a seesaw.

Doc I genuinely admire your humility.

Contrary to your belief that you don't know much, cannot argue, and don't have a strong command in English, I think you speak/write more fluently than 99% of the forum.

From my honest observation, I think your insight and knowledge is unparalleled on this forum.

You've told me before you don't know much...maybe compared to a specialist or professional but compared to most users here you do indeed know a lot.

I'm unfit to hold the title of 'Head of head of head of head Doctors' when people like you exist on this forum. Tbh ngl

what's a bold premise, that your maxilla is like a seesaw? the force applied on the maxilla is just as equally distributed on the circummaxillary bones. they have no choice but to move in tandem with it
Yes. Look more closely at the circummaxillary sutures. It would be rather difficult for the maxilla to tilt back and forth like a seesaw due to the kind of hinges that the sutures are creating.

I doubt you know me. I am German

Donald Enlow studied development of skull thoroughly
But on this level, you can prove anything with anything
There are so many theories and genes, pathways, so that you can prove anything
This all is so big and nothing can be attributed to one sole cause
Generally I avoid arguments because it raises cortisol

i guess i forgot to mention that the movement is part shifting, part bending motion. i agree with you that it'd be extremely impractical for anything of a full seesaw to occur, as it'd probably serve to tear if not severely deform the surrounding circummaxillary components

What do you think of instead of mewing brutally pushing the ridge forwards with your hands like @retard suggested?
Ngl i'd deffo try that but wouldn't that fuck me up somehow? Pushing with hands is just too much force at once

your alveola might deform before there are any proper bone changes

This is the thread, he suggests pushing the ridge forward, placing your hands at the spot where your soft and hard palate meet on the back of the mouth

he is a fucking retard, literally

i'm not saying i'm not a fucking retard but it's basic wolff's law that if you apply brute force over small periods of time you're not aiding in moving anything, in fact you're just going to make it even more insubject to change as you're causing microfractures which end up mineralizing your bone

his method ONLY works if you push the ridge forward 24/7

Facepulling?

if you're facepulling for only 5, 15, 45 minutes a day you're not going to induce ANY movement. i dont care how many days you do it for, you just wont. your teeth will shift back to their original spots throughout the day if not then throughout the night and over time if you do it long enough you will make your palate insubject to any change from your fingers

you need to be facepulling 24/7 for it to take effect
